Historical information about the monument:
The building of the Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonic Hall has an interesting history which is one of the oldest cultural centers of Baku with its unique architectural structure. First of all, note that the word "philharmonic" in the Greek translation means "to love music."

İn 1907 elders of Baku Public Assembly are appealing to the City Council to build a summer meeting room for the assembly in the Governor's Garden. Those days, a wooden entertainment space built near the Icherisheher metro station called White Club was completely destroyed by fire. The burning of the White Club speeds up the issue of the building of the meeting space. A few days after the fire by the Baku City Duma at the meeting on March 6, 1907, is made a decision to transfer approximately 1,700 square meters of land in Mikhaylovski (or the Governor) garden – in the corner of the Sadovi and Nikolayevski streets to Baku Public Assembly for this purpose.

The building was built in 1910-1912 in the European "palladio" style. In the early years of Soviet rule, music groups, various orchestras and ensembles began to gather here. However, in the early 1930s, the building was put into operation by the Society for Assistance to Defense, Aviation and Chemical Construction and was called the House of Defense.

On May 25, 1936, the Philharmonic Hall was founded on the basis of the "Department of Symphonic Concerts in front of workers-peasant and sailor deputies" of Baku Soviet. The magnificent building erected by the Baku Public Assembly is given to the Philharmonic.

In 1936-1937 was carried restoration work at the building. On August 11, 1937, the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic is named after the famous composer and educator Muslim Magomayev (1885-1937). From the first days of its existence, the philharmonic has become a kind of temple of classical music of the republic. Not only Azerbaijan, but also famous cultural figures and music collectives from various republics performs here.

In 2002-2004, the building was renovated once more. Although the old interiors are preserved, the color solution of the building has been changed and a number of new decorative elements have been added. Was installed acoustic units, new ventilation and heating systems. The design of the building's entrance deck has been changed, the columns of the tower roton and the vases on the facade are reinforced. At the same time, additional working rooms was created by removing soil beneath the summer variety and the terrace.
