Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan

The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan is the central executive body implementing the state policy and regulation in the field of protection of culture, art, history and cultural monuments, publishing and cinematography.By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev No. 359 dated January 30, 2006, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan were abolished and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism was established on the basis of the Ministry of Culture.

Regulations on the Ministry of Culture and Tourism were approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 393 dated April 18, 2006.

By the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 393 dated April 18, 2006 regulations on the Ministry of Culture and Tourism have been approved. On April 20, 2018, according to the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on some measures to improve public administration in the field of culture and tourism, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan was abolished and the Ministry of Culture and the State Tourism Agency were established.

The Office of the Ministry and the bodies included in its structure and other subordinate bodies (legal entities, organizations, etc.), as well as the Ministry of Culture of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic form a single system of the Ministry. The Ministry carries out its activities directly and through these bodies.

The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan shall determine the structure of the Ministry, the total number of employees of the Office of the Ministry and the bodies included in the structure. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan shall approve the list of subordinate bodies (legal entities, organizations, etc.) that are not included in the structure of the Ministry.

The structure of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan includes the Office of the Ministry, the State Service for Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry, the Baku Head Department of Culture and 15 regional cultural departments.
